These are strong possibilities if you rely on text to sell your products online. But it doesn’t have to be this way! Your visitors deserve a lot more than death by description.

Let’s be honest, text is important to sell products online. It just shouldn’t be the only thing you rely on. Think about it this way; if you’re thinking about buying a new car - you wouldn’t just read about it, right? You would want to see what it looks like and take it for a test drive. Knowing the specs wouldn’t be good enough to make the sell on a Cadillac, so why would it be good enough for your customers?

Humans are visual creatures. If you want to sell your products online, you have to show how amazing they are. High-resolution, well staged photographs can work wonders. Be sure to use several, from multiple angles, to show your product from all sides. Also, good lighting and image quality can really demonstrate an attention to detail that conveys professionalism to your customers.

Do you have a really dynamic product? Up your game with video. Video is an excellent medium that is cheaper and easier to create than ever. There are a number of services and software options that can help showcase your product’s best features with minimal technical skill from you. Studies show that video is the best medium for circulation on social media. Jump on the trend to help your products market themselves.

By all means, if you want to help your customers catch some z’s, stick with the text-only approach. But, if you’re looking to increase your sales, excite your customers, and showcase your products in the best way possible, update your products with hi-res photography or dynamic video.
